Meet the Team
We (Katie & Monty) are the owners of River Severn Canoes, based near Bridgnorth in Shropshire.
Between us, we have over 40 years' experience in the Adventure industry and love the great outdoors.
Monty is an expert paddler and has canoed all over the world. He's an Outdoor Education teacher and is the MD of River Severn Canoes. Katie has been working in Adventure travel for 20 years. She's the real boss (ha ha) and looks after all things sales & marketing. Katie's the one who'll be looking after all you lovely people during the booking stage and Monty is the guy on the river (which, by the way, is the best office in the world!).
With our expertise and love for all things adventure, we decided to set up our own canoe business to help you get on the water and have lots of fun exploring the River Severn & Kinver Canal. We also run Bear Creek Adventures, an outdoor adventure company for schools & groups, based in Kinver.

We set up River Severn Canoes to share our love of the water and the outdoors and we’re so proud of what it’s grown into.
In 2024 and again in 2025, we were awarded the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award, putting us in the top 10% of attractions worldwide based on customer reviews.
This year, we were featured in The Guardian as one of the top 5 kayaking and paddleboarding adventures in the UK – thanks to our much-loved route from Bridgnorth to Arley, which includes a paddle down the River Severn and a return journey by steam train!
And we’re also featured in Lizzie Carr MBE’s new book, Paddleboarding and Kayaking Britain, which celebrates the best paddling routes across the UK. We’re honoured to be included!
