Join our guided SUP trips and explore one of the UK’s most scenic rivers at a relaxed, enjoyable pace. Perfect for beginners and those with some experience, these sessions offer a great way to get on the water with expert guidance throughout.

Have a go at SUP-ing on the River Severn! At Upper Arley in Worcestershire, we have the perfect venue for you to try it out, with the help of qualified coach. You'll be taught what you need to know to get going on your SUP and build your skills and confidence. This group session is for beginners. If you're new to this activity, please book this group session before the Guided River Severn SUP trip (featured below), which is a fantastic 5 mile trip. There are only three beginner sessions available this year so we recommend booking soon to avoid disappointment.

 

Your Instructor will meet you at Arley get you kitted up and ready for the experience. You'll be taught how to launch, paddle and self rescue. Once you've covered the basics your instructor will take you on a gentle explore up the river.

Buoyancy aids are provided but if you'd like to wear a wetsuit, please bring your own. Many find these aren't necessary in warmer weather.

This is a perfect introduction before you do the longer, guided trip down the river.

Price: £40 per person (plus online booking fee) 

Duration: 90 minute group coached session

Suitable for: Beginners or people looking to build confidence

What's Included: 11 foot SUP board & paddle, dry bag, coached session for 90 minutes (please supply your own wetsuit, although these aren't necessary in warmer weather). 

Start & Finish Point: Upper Arley, Worcestershire (there is a pay & display carpark nearby).

The River Severn is a wonderful place to enjoy a SUP trip, starting in Bridgnorth and finishing in Hampton Loade. This 5 mile guided group trip is ideal for those with some experience of stand up paddleboarding and you're welcome to bring your own SUP. 

 

With lots of beautiful scenery to admire, you'll be sure to have a lovely day with other like-minded people and the assistance of a qualified coach. 

At the end of your trip you can choose to catch a train via the Severn Valley Railway, which is a fantastic way to finish your day. Alternatively, leave a car at the end or get a taxi or bus. 

If you are new to this activity, please book the taster session first which will prepare you for the guided trip down the River Severn.

Frequently Asked Questions

 

Do I need experience to try SUP?

No – our taster sessions are designed for complete beginners. If you’re new, we recommend starting there before joining a guided trip.

 

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting wet. In warmer weather, most people wear shorts and a t-shirt. You can bring a wetsuit if you prefer, but it’s not usually necessary in summer.

 

Is SUP difficult?

Most people pick up the basics quickly. Our coached sessions are designed to help you build confidence step by step.

 

Do I need to be very fit?

No – a basic level of fitness is enough. The sessions are relaxed and you can go at your own pace.

 

What happens if I fall in?

It’s all part of the fun. You’ll be wearing a buoyancy aid and will be shown how to get back on your board safely.

 

Can I bring my own paddleboard?

Yes – you’re welcome to bring your own board on the guided trip if you prefer.

 

How do I get back at the end of the guided trip?

Many people return via the Severn Valley Railway. Alternatively, you can arrange a lift, taxi or leave a car at the finish.

 

When do sessions run?

Selected dates from May to August 2026. Spaces are limited, so booking early is recommended.
