Kinver kayak hire faqs

What is included in the kayak hire?

Your hire includes everything you need for a great time on the water:

  • Sit-on-top kayak

  • Paddle

  • Buoyancy aid (life jacket)

  • Safety briefing before you set off

You just need to bring suitable clothing, footwear and a sense of adventure.

Where do we start the kayak trip?

Our kayak hire takes place from The Vine Inn in Kinver, right on the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal.

It’s an easy-access, scenic location with parking and a great spot to relax afterwards.

How long is the kayak hire?

Each session lasts 1.5 hours, giving you plenty of time to paddle at your own pace, explore the canal and enjoy the surroundings.

Do we need any experience?

No experience is needed at all.

The canal is calm and perfect for beginners, families and anyone wanting a relaxed paddle. We’ll give you a full safety briefing before you go.

What age is suitable for kayaking?

Kayaking on the canal is suitable for ages 5+.

Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.

How much does it cost?

  • £15 per adult

  • £12 per child

  • £20 for a solo kayak

(Online booking fee applies)

What should we wear?

We recommend:

  • Comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting slightly wet

  • Trainers or water shoes (no flip flops)

  • Sunscreen and a hat in warm weather

Can we bring our dog?

Yes- we recommend booking a 3 seater so your dog can sit in the middle seat.

Is it safe?

Yes. The canal is very calm with no current, making it one of the safest places to paddle.

All participants wear buoyancy aids, and our team provides a full safety briefing before you start.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Kayaking on the canal is great in most conditions, but if weather or water conditions are unsafe, we will contact you to re-arrange or offer an alternative.

Do we need to book in advance?

Yes, we strongly recommend booking online in advance, especially on weekends and bank holidays, as sessions often sell out.

Is there food or drink available?

Yes – you’re right at The Vine Inn, where you can enjoy drinks and often wood-fired pizzas after your paddle.

Perfect for a “paddle and pizza” trip.

Can we kayak as a group?

Absolutely. We welcome families, friends, and groups of up to 24 per session.

If you’re booking for a larger group, it’s best to book early to secure enough spaces together.

Are there toilets and facilities?

Yes, facilities are available at The Vine Inn.

Is parking available?

Yes, there is parking available at The Vine when kayaking or using the pub afterwards.. Please enter your registration before you leave as the carpark is monitored.
