Hiring a canoe is a wonderful way to explore the River Severn and take in the picturesque views of the magnificent Severn Valley.

Here's 5 reasons why you should hire a canoe on the River Severn this summer:

  1. Canoeing on the River Severn is a relaxing way to spend a day

You may be surprised to hear this but canoeing on the river is very relaxing. The river is a serene and peaceful place to be and has a calming effect on your mind. You'll see a lot of nature along the way and can stop for a picnic on the side of the river. It's a lovely way to spend a day....very relaxing indeed.

2. Canoeing is good exercise

Canoeing is a low impact activity that can improve your aerobic fitness, strength and flexibility. Specific health benefits include: Improved cardiovascular fitness. Increased muscle strength, particularly in the back, arms, shoulders and chest, from moving the paddle.

With a variety of options to choose from you can paddle 5 miles (Bridgnorth to Hampton Loade), 10.5 miles (Bridgnorth to Arley) or 14 miles (Bridgnorth to Bewdley).

If you're stopping in Hampton Loade, how about a visit to the River and Rail? Or in Arley you can visit The Harbour (just over the footbridge). If you're paddling all the way to Bewdley, we recommend The Mug House for a drink and a bite to eat. It's a great end to a brilliant day.
